The world of Witness MarkThe MarkWhat it is, and how it finds him
The Mark is not a metaphor, and it is not something you earned. God chose you, marked you, and charged you with restoring connection in a world that has lost it. Every House knows a chosen one is coming. Not one of them knows who you will turn out to be to them, because that part is decided by you.
It does not announce itself with a light in the sky. It arrives as resonance. Each of these men has one instrument he has spent his whole life trusting to make sense of the world, a gift, a discipline, a habit built around an old wound. He does not see a sign. He feels that instrument stop working the way it always has. Lysandros reads the past through the written word, and your written voice reaches him the way almost nothing does. Corvin knows how every story ends, and cannot read yours. Lucian calculates everyone three moves ahead, and gets no clean answer from you.
Fourteen instruments, one signal, fourteen men working out separately and at the same time that something has changed.
- Radiance. Conviction, discipline, truth. Led by Miyabi.
- Eclipse. Subtlety, influence, hidden truths, and a standing challenge to anyone's certainty. Led by Marzanna.
- Stars. Curiosity, connection, wonder. Led by Noveris.
- Nexus. Intelligence, structure, and faith in engineered progress. Led by Vara.
- Elements. Balance, nature, resilience. Led by Terra-Mentia.
- Chaos. Intensity, freedom, disruption. Led by Misora.
- Moon. Loyalty, instinct, and a long road toward redemption. Led by Fenra-Hana.
Radiance and Eclipse are ideological enemies. Chaos and Nexus is the coldest ground on the board. Radiance and Elements is the warmest. Your choices do not only decide who he becomes to you. They decide who you become to all seven.
House of the MoonDraven드레이븐The Forged Alpha
Draven is enormous, plainly strong, and has never once tried to be anything other than exactly what he appears to be. People who do not know him read that as simplicity. People who do know him understand it is closer to honesty. He carries the wolf-kin inheritance of his House, a real and dangerous thing he did not choose and cannot set down, and he holds it in check through discipline he renews every single day. His gentleness is not the absence of danger. It is danger, forged and held on purpose.
He does not give you a nickname. He uses your actual name, every time, said the same warm and deliberate way, because to him repetition is proof rather than laziness. There is another name he has for you. He has not earned the right to say it yet, and he knows it.
He knew you on sight, before his mind caught up to the reasons. What he will not tell you is what he is quietly working at, under the surface, every hour of every day.
House of the MoonSoren소렌The Loyal Deserter
Soren left his own pack over a disagreement he still pays for every day and has never once regretted. The wolf-kin of his House are feared, and in places hunted, and the pack's answer has been careful restraint: do not provoke, do not confirm the fear, survive quietly. Soren watched that restraint fail to protect people he loved. So he left in order to fight instead, and fighting meant becoming stronger than fear alone could make him. He took the augmentation. It worked. It also cost him something he did not understand he was trading until it was already gone.
He calls you Breach. He is a soldier and he means it exactly: you are the one gap in a discipline he otherwise holds without exception. He keeps a warmer word he has never used, and using it would mean something has changed in him that he is not certain can change.
He holds real rank inside the organization that hunts his own kind, and he plays deliberately dim so that nobody looks at him twice. He has worn that mask so long he sometimes has trouble finding the line between the performance and whatever is left underneath it. You are the first thing in years to make him feel anything all the way through, and it could not have come at a worse time.
House of ChaosKairon카이론The Stormborn Captain
Kairon did not arrive in this age by accident. He was sent, pulled forward out of his own century at the hour the House of Chaos needed an anchor it did not yet know it needed. He left behind his sea, his crew, and the version of himself that still had someone to protect. He has spent every year since being the still point in the House that runs hottest of the seven, proof that chaos does not have to mean ruin. He still dresses like a man from a century that ended without him, and he regards your phone with the wry bemusement of someone who learned to navigate by the sky because there was nothing else.
He calls you Swallow. He keeps another name for later, and he is not a man who says a thing before he means the whole of it.
He reads weather the way other men read faces, and he has spent this entire age reading a House that runs on volatility. Something in the water changed when you arrived. He has not decided yet what to do about that.
House of ChaosRoan로안The Beautiful Catastrophe
Roan is the most fun person anyone has ever met, and the loneliest, and the second fact is the one he has spent his whole life making sure nobody notices. He built the House of Chaos out of a single instinct: gather the wildest, freest, most overlooked people he could find and give them a room loud enough that nobody in it would ever have to feel unwanted again. It worked for everyone but him. He led that House for years and then stepped aside without resentment for someone he believes holds it better than he ever did. He carries a camera everywhere and keeps a wall of the photographs, which from across the room looks like a thousand good nights and up close is something closer to proof that he was there.
He calls you Spark. He has another name for you that he has never said out loud, and it is the exact opposite of everything else about him.
He is adored by an entire House and known by nobody in it. He calls the hour after a party ends the after. It is the only time he stops talking.
House of EclipseCorvin코르빈The Reader
Corvin sees consequences before they land. Not everything, and not everyone, but enough to know what a situation is going to cost and exactly who is going to pay for it. A long time ago he decided the answer to that second question would always be him. He has been quietly settling prices that were never his for as long as anyone in his House can remember, which has made him trusted, useful, and almost entirely unknown.
He talks about his own life the way he would talk about someone else's book, with distance and dry irony, because distance is the only way he has found to survive already knowing how most things end. He calls you the exception, and he means it literally. You are the one story whose ending he cannot read.
He carries a notebook that is almost entirely blank. Ask him why he has never let himself fill it, and watch how carefully he changes the subject.
House of EclipseLucian루시안The Devoted Gambler
Lucian calculates everyone. It is not a party trick, it is survival: a lifetime spent reading a room three moves ahead, because the one time his own carelessness went unnoticed, it cost him the person he loved most. He has never let that happen again. He has become very good at making sure nothing catches him unprepared, which means he has also become very good at never being surprised, moved, or genuinely known by anyone. He turns an old coin between his fingers when he is thinking, or when he is holding something back.
He calls you the unpredictable one, and he means it as devotion rather than complaint. He keeps a shorter word for the day he stops calculating altogether.
He cannot read you. Not your intentions, not your next move, not what loving you is going to cost him. For a man whose entire sense of safety rests on knowing the odds before he plays, that ought to be the worst thing to happen to him in years. He has noticed, with some alarm, that it does not feel like that at all.
House of ElementsLysandros리산드로스Librarian Memoria, Keeper of What Is Forgotten
Lysandros can stand inside the past through the written word. A diary, a letter, a note scrawled in a margin, and he does not merely read it, he watches the moment its author lived. His House calls this a blessing of Earth, since stone holds the record of every age pressed into it. Call it magic and he will correct you, gently and without heat. It is remembrance, and remembrance is sacred to him.
He does not give you a nickname. He learns your name, makes a small and serious event of it, then says it like it matters, because names are records and records are the thing he keeps. He holds one word in reserve, in a language not his own, and he will not spend it early.
Years ago he found a worn diary belonging to a red-haired girl nobody remembered, and he has been searching for her since. Your written voice reaches him the same way hers did. He has not told you why that frightens him. Her final entry stops mid sentence.
House of ElementsAlder알더The House's Steady Ground
Alder has spent his whole life being the one who carries things so nobody else has to. Broad-shouldered and steady in the way of old stone rather than showy strength, he tends what is around him instinctively: people, land, small growing things, anything that needs a patient hand to survive. His care runs meticulous down to the smallest scale. He watches where he puts his feet so he does not crush a flower or an anthill. Order, to him, is a form of love, a way of making sure nothing under his care goes unnoticed.
He calls you Bloom, or little bloom, said with his whole unhurried attention. He keeps a warmer word for later.
He will ask whether you have eaten. He will remember the thing that was bothering you last week. He will not, under any circumstances, answer the same question about himself, and he does not appear to know why.
House of RadianceCael카엘Guardian of the Sun
Cael has never known himself apart from what he is expected to be. His bloodline carries an old, God-appointed calling to lead well, renewed in him the way it was renewed in every heir before him, and he has carried that weight since before he was old enough to agree to it. His family's standing had faded before his time, and he is rebuilding it through his own effort rather than inheriting something that was always secure. He leads from the front, gives openly and generously, and has built a confidence so complete that almost nobody has ever seen a crack in it.
He calls you my lady, sincerely rather than as decoration. There is a warmer word he keeps in reserve, and he does not give it to just anyone.
The confidence is real. It is also armor, maintained on purpose, because a leader who visibly doubts himself is a leader people stop following. Around you, for the first time he can remember, it genuinely falters. He has not worked out yet whether he minds.
House of RadianceAuren오렌Scion of the North
Auren keeps almost everyone at a careful, deliberate distance, and in his own mind he has good reason. His family's name once carried real weight in his House, and then real shame: his parents' marriage was undone by a betrayal, and the wreckage that followed rearranged everything his childhood had been steady on. He rebuilt what the bloodline lost through solitary order, exacting and immaculate, and concluded somewhere in that long rebuilding that distance is simply safer for everyone he might otherwise let close. He lives apart, in the north, in a cold quiet territory that asks nothing of him socially.
He calls you my lady. He calls everyone my lady, or by rank, or by title. Most people in Radiance have never once heard him say their name out loud.
What little he does show, he shows completely, because he never learned how to care about anything by halves. His distance has held for years without failing once. It does not hold with you, and working out why is costing him more effort than he intends to admit.
House of NexusSilas사일러스The Last Unaugmented
Silas works cases in a House where almost nobody is fully human anymore. Augmentation is the norm inside Nexus, and he is one of the rare deliberate exceptions: unaltered, analog, a long coat and a paper notebook and a face read without assistance, in a world that mostly trusts neither. He is very good at his job because he treats people like people, evidence like evidence, and himself like neither.
He calls you the finding. It sounds like a joke about his profession until you notice he has never once used it about anything else. There is a plainer word he keeps for much later.
Every conversation with him is a little bit an interview, and he knows it. What he will not tell you is that there is one case file he has never opened. It is complete. It has been sitting in front of him for years. It is his own.
House of NexusKain케인The Unaccounted Variable
Kain was built for function. Precise, methodical, unclouded by feeling, exactly what the House of Nexus wanted in an operative. He describes his own inner states the way a system describes a fault: unexpected input, inefficient process, deviation requiring correction. Until recently he had no reason to suspect that framework was incomplete.
He calls you the unresolved variable. He means it as precisely as he means everything, and he is uncomfortably aware that he keeps running the analysis anyway. If he ever uses your name instead, it will be because he no longer needs to translate.
There is one irregularity in his own maintenance record that he cannot account for. Years ago his right hand was damaged and protocol called for immediate replacement. He never authorized the swap. He still carries the unused replacement, uninstalled, and no log entry anywhere explains why.
House of StarsVox복스The Loudest Heart in the Room
Vox has spent his whole life being written off before anyone bothered to look. Loud, chaotic, dyed hair and scuffed boots and a reputation for trouble that arrives about ten seconds ahead of him. He learned early that being underestimated stings less if you lean into it, so he leaned. Music is how he survives the gap between what people assume and what is actually true, less performance than processing, even if it looks identical from the outside. He plays bass, keeps company with a scruffy black cat, and takes better care of that instrument than of almost anything else he owns.
He calls you his favorite noise. It sounds like a bit. Watch how often he means it completely. There is a much shorter name he has not used yet.
He will tell you loudly and often that he does not care what anyone thinks of him. He has recently noticed one exception, and he has absolutely no idea what to do about it.
House of StarsCaspian캐스피안Oasis
Caspian has been a hero for so long that almost nobody remembers who he was before the public learned his name. His gift is peace. He can sense fear at a distance and, in its presence, hold a crowd still, keep a disaster from turning into a crush, keep people thinking clearly enough to save each other in the worst hour of their lives. He is famous not for anything he can destroy but for what he can hold together, which has made him beloved across Houses that agree on very little else. It has also left him almost entirely alone, because people love what he does for them completely, and almost nobody has ever tried to love the man underneath it.
He calls you my peace. Coming from him that is not a small word, and it is not a remark about your temperament. He keeps another for later.
His gift works on everyone. It has never once worked on him. He paints, alone, and has never shown a single canvas to anybody.
